Protonest Master

Getting started

Quick start

Commission a new gateway or sign in to one that has already been configured.

On this page

Both first-time setup and normal sign-in begin on the gateway's local hotspot. Keep the hotspot password from the gateway label nearby. For a new gateway, also prepare your Wi-Fi or cellular details.

1. Join the setup hotspot

  1. Power on the gateway

Fit both antennas, connect the approved DC supply, and wait about one minute for the gateway to start.

  2. Find the gateway network

Open the Wi-Fi list on your laptop or mobile device and select Protonest-Master-XXXX, where XXXX is the last four characters of the MAC address.

  3. Enter the hotspot password

Use the password printed on the gateway label. If several gateways are nearby, match the hotspot name to the device label.

2. Open the web console

  1. Open the local address

In a browser, go to http://192.168.4.1.

  2. Follow the page shown by the gateway

A new, uncommissioned gateway opens the onboarding wizard immediately. A gateway that has already been configured opens the sign-in page.

3. New device: complete onboarding

On a new device, the three-step onboarding wizard appears before any sign-in page. The progress indicator in the upper-right shows where you are.

Choose your sign-in details

Enter a new administrator username and password, repeat the password, and select Save and continue.

  • Username: 8-31 characters using letters, numbers, dots, underscores, or hyphens.
  • Password: 8-63 UTF-8 bytes. The repeated value must match.
Step 1 of setup: create the administrator username and password.

Identify the gateway

Enter identifiers that distinguish this gateway in dashboards and MQTT data:

text
Device ID: gateway-01
Site ID: factory-a

Select Save and continue. You can select Skip and configure these values later under Settings > Device identity.

Device ID and Site ID are required when this step is saved and may each contain up to 31 UTF-8 bytes.

Step 2 of setup: assign the Device ID and Site ID used to identify the gateway.

Connect to a network

Select Wi-Fi, enter the case-sensitive network name and password, then select Save and finish. Use a 2.4 GHz network.

Step 3 of setup: choose Wi-Fi or cellular and enter the connection details.

Use Back to return to the previous step. Selecting Skip leaves the current step for later; you can change identity under Settings and connectivity under Network. After Save and finish, the gateway opens Overview.

4. Configured device: sign in

If the gateway has already completed onboarding, it asks for the saved administrator credentials.

  1. Enter the administrator credentials

Enter the username and password created during onboarding or last updated under Settings.

  2. Sign in

Select Sign in. The gateway opens Overview after authentication succeeds.

Configured gateways show the sign-in page at 192.168.4.1. Password characters remain hidden.

5. Verify the Overview dashboard

Overview opens after onboarding finishes or after a successful sign-in.

  1. Check connectivity

In Network, confirm that Connection shows the gateway is connected.

  2. Check live readings

Confirm that the available sensor and I/O values update.

  3. Review system health

Check Power and Hardware check for warnings. Select Full report if a hardware item is not healthy.

Overview shows live readings, identity, network, power, and hardware health after setup.

If the gateway is not connected, continue to Troubleshooting.
