Open Connectivity > Network. Connection settings selects Wi-Fi or cellular, while Connection status reports the live network state.
Connect with Wi-Fi
Select Wi-Fi
Under Preferred connection, select Wi-Fi.
Enter the network details
Enter the case-sensitive Network name (SSID) for a 2.4 GHz network. Enter its Wi-Fi password, or leave the password empty for an open network.
Save and connect
Select Save network settings, then wait for Connection status to show Online.
A new Wi-Fi password must contain 8-63 characters or exactly 64 hexadecimal characters. A blank password is valid for an open network; when a password is already stored, leaving the field blank keeps it.
Connect with cellular
Prepare the SIM
Install and activate the SIM card as directed for the hardware.
Select cellular
Under Preferred connection, select Cellular and enter the APN supplied by the SIM provider.
Add authentication if required
If the provider requires a login, turn on Cellular authentication and enter the username and password.
Save and connect
Select Save network settings, then wait for Connection status to show Online.
The APN is required. A cellular username and password are required only when Cellular authentication is enabled. After a password is saved, leave its field blank to retain it.
Read the connection status
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Configured method | The connection type saved in settings. |
| Active connection | The connection the gateway is currently using. |
| Network | The connected Wi-Fi network name. |
| Signal | Signal strength in dBm. A value near -50 dBm is strong; below approximately -75 dBm may be unreliable. |
| IP address | The address assigned by the active network. |
| Cellular modem | Live modem state, or Not active while Wi-Fi is in use. |
The status badge and details update automatically. During a connection change you may briefly see states such as Connecting, Waiting for IP address, Starting modem, Registering, Connecting data, Online, or Offline. The configured method can differ from the active connection until the new link is established.
If the status remains offline, see Troubleshooting.
